When dealing with heavy trauma, it’s easy to use chaos as a distraction. Damien Celaya explains how he would be encouraged to go on another deployment to escape his issues at home, believing that throwing him back into the chaos would somehow make him feel better.
But that mindset is a trap. Using the grind, the chaos, or constant work to escape your personal trauma only prolongs the pain. You cannot outwork a broken foundation.
Eventually, you have to face the quiet and figure out what is truly driving you, whether it is your family or the people standing directly beside you.
Face the quiet. Stay Relentless.
